Shortly after 6 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, a deputy from the Stafford County Sheriff's Office was patrolling the Super 8 Motel on Wicomico Drive when he saw a woman violently shaking the driver of a Ford, raising concerns of a possible overdose, officials said.
In fact, it was not a medical emergency, and Centreville resident Kalila Prochno, 31 tried to explain that the driver, Jason Haller, 49, of Gainesville, was simply a "heavy sleeper" while providing a fake ID during her conversation with deputies.
They did not buy her tall tale.
After some questioning, Prochno confessed she lied because of outstanding warrants, which were related to drug offenses, and she was detained.
Haller consented to a search of his vehicle, which led deputies to uncover suspected controlled substances, resulting in his own arrest after more drugs were found on him.
Prochno now faces fresh charges that include:
Possession of controlled substances;
- Unlawful name change
- Identity fraud
- Providing false identification to law enforcement.
She was also served her outstanding warrants. Haller was charged with possession of controlled substances.
Both suspects were booked into Rappahannock Regional Jail, where they remain held without bond.
